Music & Arts

DUMC offers a varied music program to enhance worship.  Our Praise Band, led by Pam Matousek, provides contemporary Christian music for the early service at 8:30 AM each Sunday, while organist Esther Peck and the Chancel Choir under the direction of Robert Waddell, assisted by Dave Rice, provide more traditional music for the 11:00 AM service (10:00AM from June-September).  An adult hand bell group rehearses weekly and plays for services and special events.  Children’s Choirs participate in services regularly, rehearsing 9:00-9:30 Sunday mornings.   Middle and senior high youth groups present puppet shows and dramatic plays for Youth Sunday.  D.E.E.P. (youth praise band) under the direction of Kyle Durbin, rehearses weekly on Monday evenings at 5:30 and participates in Youth Sunday services.  Other groups such as J4J (Jazz For Jesus) and the string group rehearse on Sundays at noon when preparing for a special service or event.  Plays and musicals are presented often as an outreach to the community, along with “Performance Camp” which is a day camp offered for one week in June.  DUMC and REC ‘n’ PARKS partner efforts to offer this unique theater and instrumental performing experience for students K-gr. 8.  An annual recital show cases the artistic talents of our congregation, and is open to community performers as well.   Musicians and artists will find many opportunities to share their talents in worship settings. YOUTH SUNDAY is held the 5th Sunday of every month.    Music & Arts Music & Arts

Child Development Center

Yes this is HAILEY!!!  CrossRoads Child Development Center offers a developmental child care program which works with each child at his/her own level to encourage a healthy appreciation of self and to guide the child to group socialization.  Furthermore, each child is a person of value who should have every opportunity to develop physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  This will occur in an environment that exhibits love and concern for each child by:

  • Stimulating learning experiences
  • Respecting the individual needs of each child
  • creating a climate of positive interaction between the child, teachers and other children
  • Encouraging a foundation of partnership between parents, child care staff and church members based upon mutual trust and recognition
  • Building a good relationship with each family and expanding on the foundation provided at home
  • Being faith based center in the community where all are welcome

CrossRoads Child Development Center has its own website - visit them at www.crossroadscdc.com today!

Christian marriage is a sacred worship experience. Because your relationship has been created with God’s blessing and help, the church believes that it is proper to solemnize this relationship in the reverence of a church service.  Your wedding will mean more to you, your families and your friends when there is careful concern for all the aspects of this holy occasion.

Once your wedding date is confirmed, we will assist you as you plan for this happy occasion. We want to do everything possible to make your wedding a beautiful and meaningful experience.

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions about weddings at Davidsonville United Methodist Church:

Should I purchase an aisle runner?   If it is your preference to use a runner, you will need to purchase one for use at our church.  You may wish to contact your florist or order directly from the internet.

Can birdseed be thrown as the bridal party leaves the church? Yes, only birdseed is allowed to be thrown outside of the Sanctuary. The use of balloons, rose pedals and/or rice after weddings is prohibited.

Should we hand out wedding programs at our ceremony? If you wish to provide a bulletin or program for your service, you may contact a local printer. As another alternative, there are many software packages that offer free wedding program templates.

What candles are included in the ceremony?   In the sanctuary, altar candles will be available for your use.  Additionally, candelabras can be arranged with the Wedding Director in advance.  If your ceremony is in the Green Cathedral, you should furnish all candles that you wish to use.  In either location, if you wish to use a Unity Candle, you can purchase and provide this for your ceremony. Local stores or internet sites now sell a wide range of unity candle setups, and since this is a personal preference, we encourage bridal parties to make this decision.
