ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
- is one of United Methodism’s six church wide Special Sundays
with offerings. You can be a beacon of hope in the world through
your offerings to One Great Hour of Sharing. Being a beacon of hope
can include supplying food to famine-stricken people, providing
medicine to an AIDS clinic in Africa and furnishing lumber in
hurricane-devastated areas. Together we can make a difference
through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. "The One Great Hour
of Sharing offering , provides for those basic needs that make the
rest of UMCOR's work possible." "Without this offering so much of
what UMCOR does to bring hope and healing to the world could not
happen.” By celebrating One Great Hour of Sharing, you help
underwrite UMCOR’s “cost of doing business” so they can keep their
promise that 100% of designated gifts go to specific causes. If you
would like to make a donation you can make a check out to DUMC and
memo it One Great Hour of Sharing, or go online and make a donation
at umcor@gbgm-umc.org
SAFE SANCTUARY POLICY -
Please check out the latest addition to the dumc.net website;
Policies. Here you'll find
information relating to current policy on DUMC's Safe Sanctuary.
SPREAD THE WORD - To help
spread the “Word” of Jesus Christ through spreading the word about
DUMC, there are some business cards available on the table near the
entrance to the new building. Keep one or two in your wallet and
when you meet someone who is searching either for Christ or a church
offer it to them.
A WAY TO SERVE - We are looking
to put together a team of folks who would like to be of service to
those who can no longer drive but still have a desire to worship at
church among friends and other worshipers. We know of three persons
right now who could use your help. If God places in your heart a
desire to be of service to these folks please contact the church
office. 410-798-5511. If you know of anyone who is in need of this
service let us know that too.
ADULT TEACHERS AND AIDES NEEDED - Unbury your
treasured gifts and devote time teaching children about our Savior.
Full-time and part-time opportunities available for both school
terms; no experience needed expect for a “Life–Changing” experience
and willingness to play hard and love children tenderly. Required
training is provided.
Call: 410.798.5790 at the CrossRoads Child
Development Center. Be blessed and a blessing!
REQUEST FROM THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT
- The youth
are accepting donations for our new youth room! We are in need of
gently used couches , chairs, large screen tv, game system, small
refrigerator, and pool , ping pong table, or pinball machine. If you
have anything that remotely fits this description please see Steve
L. or Steve W. and let us know or call us too! Thanks so much!
DID YOU KNOW???
- DUMC’s website event calendar
is a very handy way to see all the goings on that are going on here
at DUMC. Calendar events are categorized so when viewing the
calendar you can filter out certain events that may pertain to you.
Computer savvy users can even download this data right into their
cell phone/PDA/or calendar software like Microsoft Outlook. When
viewing the calendar there is a committee selection box on the top
right hand side. Here you can select various committees like Friends
of DUMC, Care & Nurture, Methodist Women, etc. If you want help
using this high-tech feature feel free to contact the webmaster.
BUS MINISTRY
- The Lord has prompted the heart
of Joe Niemann and we will embark on a bus ministry . On the first
Sunday of each month Joe will pick up
those folks who are in need of transportation to the 11:00 service.
The route and times will be developed as needed. If you are
interested in this service please call Joe, 410-956-6506 or the
church office, 410-798-5511. Thank you Joe! It is our hope this will
allow some of our seniors who don’t drive the chance to worship at
church again so if you know of someone who could benefit from this
ministry please call them.
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
- Last Sunday of
every month 9:45am - 10:30am.
CANNED GOODS DONATIONS
- Your donation of canned
goods are always welcome and while we use some at DUMC the majority
of it goes to the Local Food Bank, where families can come in each
week to receive food.
